Experts will recreate the faces of the first settlers of the Krasnoyarsk prison, and also find out what they ate, how many years they were and in what year they lived.

This was told by Danil Lysenko, director of Krasnoyarsk Geoarcheology LLC. Currently, excavations on the street. Karatanov is completed. The collective burial was found there this summer during the repair of cold water supply pipes. Early on the site, networks were laid in the 2000s, but no one paid attention to the bones.

For archaeologists, the found burial is unique: on the one hand, water pipes, on the other, Internet communications. At the same time, the burial is not much damaged. It is a pit of 3 by 4 meters, and a half depth. Inside, 38 people were buried, all male, bodies were laid in three tiers. Interestingly – the burial is made outside of historical necropolises, not on lighting ground. At the same time, all hands are folded according to the church rite.

“According to one of the working versions that is now being developed, this is evidence of the tragedy that played in the winter in 1628-1629, when the first Cossacks who came with Andrei Dubensky in the amount of 303 people fell into a non-standard situation-they came late and there were interruptions in the supply of bread. Because of which mass hunger arose in the prison, 52 people died as a result. This is a historical fact, it is recorded by contemporaries. Perhaps a collective burial on the street. Karatanova is a witness to this event. This is evidenced by the remoteness of the prison from the place of burial, since the church appeared later, only in 1629, ”said Danil Lysenko, director of Krasnoyarsk Geoarcheology LLC.

Now all the finds are cleaned and canned, after sending for examination. The first step – anthropological – experts will establish an exact floor, age, food stress, and also restore people's faces on skulls – it will be possible to get the appearance of the inhabitants of the prison. This will be engaged in the Medical Academy of Krasnoyarsk. But a radiocarbon study will help to set the exact date of the burial, for this the material will be sent to the Laboratory of Novosibirsk or China. Studies will end to the anniversary of Krasnoyarsk in 2028.

Archaeologists, meanwhile, announced the following “bright” finds found on the street. January 9th. They promise to tell about them next week.
