The Ukrainians published images of the staged attack on the commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps

The Intelligence Services of the Ministry of Defense (DIU) have revealed details of the operation by which they orchestrated the death of the commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC), reports Ukrainska Pravda.

,Denis “WhiteRex” Kapustin. They published a recording of the attack that would have convinced the Russians, who had placed a substantial bounty on his head, that he had been killed.
The footage captures the moment when a minibus carrying the commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps, a military and political organization established in 2022, is attacked by a drone.
“To preserve the life of the commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps of the Special Defense Intelligence Unit of Ukraine, Timur, and to expose a network of enemy agents, military intelligence officers conducted a complex multi-stage special operation, during which his death was staged,” the DIU said.
The video produced to support the story involved a two-drone operation.
The first drone hit the minibus Kapustin was believed to be in, while the second drone filmed the alleged “aftermath of the attack”, namely the vehicle engulfed in flames.
“Members of the Russian secret services who ordered the murder believed the video recording and paid Ukrainian intelligence officers US$500,000 for the 'contract', money that will be used to substantially strengthen the combat capabilities of the IDU's special units.”
On December 27, the Russian Volunteer Corps reported that its commander, Denis “WhiteRex” Kapustin, was killed in action on the Zaporizhia front.
On 1 January, the DIU revealed that reports of his death were part of a special operation by Ukrainian troops and announced that he was “alive”.
The DIU released a video showing Special Unit commander Timur reporting to Lieutenant General Kirilo Budanov, head of the Military Intelligence Service. Kapustin is also present at the online meeting.
Budanov is informed that the members of the Russian secret services who wanted to kill him have been identified, as have the perpetrators, and that the $500,000 reward promised by the Russian secret services for the commission of the murder has been paid.
“At the moment, the commander of the RVC is on the territory of Ukraine and is preparing to fulfill the assigned tasks,” Budanov is informed.
Kapustin says for his part that “his temporary absence had no impact on the units' activity.”
