The Venezuelan government has announced that more and more civilians will be trained to use weapons in the case of a US military attack. The first training sessions were organized in different regions of the country and were coordinated by the National Army, said President Nicolas Maduro.
The leader from Caracas asked the farmers to be prepared and, if the situation requires it, put their hands on the weapons to defend the country. “The Venezuelan people tell the Empire: Stop the threats!”, Maduro said in front of them, adding that Venezuela is “more united” in front of external pressures, notes Agerpres.
The announcement comes just a few days after the Venezuelan armed forces carried out military exercises on the island in Ochila, located in the Caribbean Sea, about 65 kilometers from the coast, against the backdrop of Washington.
On the other hand, the Trump administration has increased the diplomatic and military pressure on Venezuela, in the context in which the US president strengthened his campaign against illegal immigration and ordered the multiplication of expulsions.
The United States has recently mobilized several war vessels in the Caribbean, officially for an anti-drug operation, as well as ten F-35 fighter jets in Puerto Rico, American territory in the region.
Washington accuses the Maduro regime of holding a vast network trafficking network targeting the United States and has announced the destruction of several “narcotrorist” boats.
In addition, Donald Trump warned Venezuela on Saturday with possible “incalculable” consequences if he did not accept to receive back “prisoners and patients from psychiatric hospitals” who, according to the American leader, would have been “pushed” on the US territory by Venezuelan authorities.
