A few hours before the US attack on Venezuela, Maduro met with representatives of the Chinese delegation. On Friday evening, he hosted them at the presidential palace in the capital, Caracas. He met, among others, with Qiu Xiaoqi, China's special representative for Latin America.

Maduro managed to post an entry and a recording on Telegram in which he boasted about the visit. “A brotherly meeting that confirms the strong bonds of friendship between China and Venezuela. For better or for worse!” — wrote the Venezuelan leader in his last entry.

“We reaffirmed our commitment to strategic relations that are developing and strengthening in various areas. They aim to build a multipolar world of development and peace. China and Venezuela! United,” he added in another post.

Approximately At 2 a.m. local time (7 a.m. in Poland) on Saturday, explosions and low-flying planes were heard in the capital of Venezuela. Footage appearing on social media showed explosions and columns of smoke over the city.

The government of Nicolas Maduro has declared a state of emergency throughout Venezuela and accused the United States of “military aggression.”
