Colombia deploys troops on the border with Venezuela. Russia condemns the US


Colombian President Gustavo Petro called for a meeting of the Organization of American States (OAS) and the UN Security Council, where Colombia has been a non-permanent member since the beginning of the year.
Petro also announced the deployment of troops on the border with Venezuela, as well as the dispatch of emergency services there in the event of a mass influx of refugees from Venezuela.

Spain, which traditionally has strong interests in South America, called for “de-escalation and moderation”, declaring its readiness to mediate “in order to achieve a peaceful solution to the current crisis”.
The Russian Foreign Ministry on Saturday condemned the US “act of armed aggression” against Venezuela, calling to “prevent further escalation and focus on finding a way out of the situation through dialogue.”
Iran, an ally of Venezuela, also condemned the US attack, calling the US actions a “gross violation of national sovereignty and territorial integrity.” In June, the US also carried out air attacks on Iranian nuclear installations.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel called for an “urgent” response from the international community over the US' “brutal attack” on “our zone of peace.”
“Freedom is moving forward”
The president of Argentina reacted completely differently. “Freedom is moving forward!” — Javier Milei, a close Trump ally, wrote on X.

European countries such as Germany, Italy and Belgium are monitoring the development of the situation in Venezuela on an ongoing basis, currently focusing on the safety of the citizens of these countries.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that he had received information about 11 Polish citizens currently staying in Venezuela, who left for this country despite repeated warnings from the Minister of Foreign Affairs in connection with the internal situation and possible conflict.
Approximately At 2 a.m. local time (7 a.m. in Poland) on Saturday, explosions and low-flying planes were heard in the capital of Venezuela. The Venezuelan government blamed the US for the attacks.
A few hours later, US President Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social social networking site that the operation had been successfully carried out by the United States, and Maduro and his wife had been captured and taken out of the country.
