US President Donald Trump on Friday reaffirmed that he is in perfect health, claiming to have scored again on a cognitive test, as his health continues to fuel public debate in the US given his advanced age.

“The doctors at the White House have just announced that I enjoy “PERFECT HEALTH”‚ and that I passed the cognitive exam “WITH BRILL” (that is, I answered 100% of the questions correctly), for the third time in a row,” wrote Donald Trump, 79 years old, on his Truth Social social network, reports EFE, AFP and Agerpres.

He added that no other US president or vice president had been willing to take such a test.

The Republican front-runner repeatedly claims he excels on these assessments and has called for all US presidential and vice presidential candidates to be required to take “rigorous, meaningful and reliable” cognitive tests. “Our great country cannot be governed by stupid or incompetent people,” he said.

Concerns about the health of Donald Trump – the oldest US president ever elected – have been reignited in recent weeks by media reports claiming that his activity rate has slowed. Some accounts mention that he appeared to be on the verge of dozing off during public events and was spotted with swollen ankles and bruises on his right hand.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Trump claimed the bruises were caused by the high dose of aspirin — 325 mg daily — that he takes “out of superstition,” saying it helps “thin the blood,” even though the dose exceeds normal medical recommendations. He also admitted to using makeup to hide these marks.

The president has denied allegations that he fell asleep in public, saying the press photographed him “while he was blinking”. At the same time, Trump continued to attack his Democratic predecessor, Joe Biden, whom he frequently described as cognitively incompetent, allegations he denied.

Since returning to the White House nearly a year ago, Trump has sought to reassure the public about his ability to lead. In this sense, he made public a detailed medical report after a check-up carried out in April, and his doctor declared, following a new assessment carried out in October, that the president is in excellent health.
