Ficus benjamina goes crazy with this infusion: 1 spoon under the root – and the leaves stop falling

In the first days of the new year, many people notice that Benjamin's ficus, which was holding firm back in December, suddenly begins to shed its leaves, especially after the holidays. The plant seems to be tired, and this is not surprising. The air in the house is as dry as possible, the radiators are running at full capacity, there is less light than in December, and the plant is exhausted after a period of adaptation to heating.

The ficus simply lacks potassium and magnesium – those elements that strengthen the petioles and help the leaves naturally hold on while new ones prepare to grow.

And there is a simple, gentle way to support it – an infusion of banana peels. It provides essential microelements and replenishes what is missing in winter tap water.

How to prepare and use:

  • Take 1 banana peel and chop finely.
  • Pour 1 liter of warm water and close the jar.
  • Leave for 24 hours at room temperature.
  • Strain and dilute halfway with clean water 1 to 1.
  • Water the ficus once every 10–12 days.

Start now, in the first days of January. After just 10–14 days, you will notice that the fall slows down, new leaves do not turn yellow at the base, and the crown maintains its natural density.

Question and answer:

Why shouldn't you bury banana peels in the ground?
Because in warm, moist soil it causes mold, rot and attracts midges. Only the infusion is safe for the roots.

How to prepare banana peel fertilizer for ficus?
Finely chop 1 peel, add 1 liter of warm water, leave for 24 hours, strain and dilute half with clean water. Water once every 10–12 days.

How to protect ficus from dry air in January?
Do not place near the battery. Use a tray of wet pebbles or a humidifier nearby.
