Drinking water from the tap, prohibited in several localities in Prahova. What is the reason
The water supplier Hidro Prahova announces bans on the consumption of water supplied in the centralized system in several localities in Prahova County, after laboratory analyzes indicated that some chemical parameters were exceeded.

In the town of Mănești, a total ban on water consumption was instituted, after the analyzed samples revealed high concentrations of arsenic. The measure was ordered by the Prahova Public Health Directorate, and the water cannot be used for drinking or cooking until the situation is completely remedied. Hidro Prahova representatives warn that arsenic cannot be removed by boiling water.
Restrictions are also imposed in the Albești-Paleologu commune, where the analyzes carried out in the distribution network for the Albești and Cioceni sources indicated exceeding the Ammonium (NH4+) and Iron (Fe) parameters. According to the water company, these overflows are telluric in nature, being related to the natural composition of the soil and groundwater, and are not the result of recent accidental pollution. In this case, the water may have a reddish-brown color, without implying a major health risk. Hidro Prahova ordered remedial measures and additional monitoring, according to DSP Prahova's instructions.
Also, in the commune of Balta Doamnei, in the area of Cismea Peco in the village of Lacul Turcului, increased amounts of nitrites were found in the water. A ban on the use of water for drinking, cooking, preparing baby milk formulas and teas was introduced, the measure applying in particular to children under 3 years old, nursing women and the elderly. The water can be used for washing and other activities that do not involve contact with food.
In support of the affected consumers, Hidro Prahova will ensure the distribution of potable water for drinking and cooking, by placing containers in the affected areas.
