Ukrainian target: military facility, not residence
Citing anonymous sources from national security circles and the CIA's assessment, the American daily reported that The Ukrainians intended to launch an attack on a military target that had already been the object of their operations. As emphasized, this facility was located in the Novgorod Oblast, but not in the immediate vicinity of Putin's residence.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky firmly denied the reports from the Russian authorities, claiming that they were part of disinformation aimed at hindering peace talks. In turn, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov initially reported an alleged attack by 91 drones on Putin's estate, all of which were supposed to be shot down. However, the Russian Ministry of Defense only presented photos of drone debris found in the forest, which allegedly came from this operation.
Trump comments: “Putin's nonsense”
Former US President Donald Trump also commented on the matter, sharing an editorial comment on his social networking site in the New York Post entitled “Putin's nonsense about the 'attack' shows that Russia stands in the way of peace.” The article quoted his earlier words in which he stated that the end of the war was “closer than ever before.” Trump also suggested that he believed Putin, although he did not rule out that the Russian leader could have lied. – It's possible, but President Putin told me that it was so – he said during a meeting with the Prime Minister of Israel in Florida.
The Russian media maintains the narrative about the Ukrainian attack on Putin's residence, despite the lack of clear evidence. Meanwhile, the United States, citing CIA findings, firmly denies that Ukraine has such intentions.
