New airport approved. CPK with the final environmental decision

The Centralny Port Komunikacyjny company received the final decision on environmental conditions for the airport being built near Baranów – it was announced on the website of the 10th Port Polska. The decision establishes environmental conditions, including: for a new airport, railway junction and road access.

“The Centralny Port Komunikacyjny company, implementing the Port Polska investment program, has received the final decision on the environmental conditions for the airport under construction and for the equipment and facilities necessary for its operation,” was announced on Wednesday on the X Port Polska platform.

It was added that this decision sets the conditions for environmental consent for the construction of a new airport, railway junction, road access, reconstruction of conflicts with existing infrastructure in the airport surroundings, and specifies the scope of compensation and environmental monitoring.

The investment is to include, among others: a central airport located between Warsaw and Łódź and a high-speed rail system. The new airport is to be initially adapted to handle 34 million passengers per year and designed in such a way that in the long term it can be flexibly expanded in accordance with the needs and forecasts of market development.

According to the adopted schedule, the construction of the airport in the municipalities of Baranów, Wiskitki and Teresin is to begin in 2026. In 2031, the airport is to obtain the necessary certifications, and in 2032 it is to be put into operation together with the first section of high-speed railway in Poland: Warsaw – Port Polska – Łódź. The estimated investment cost until 2032 is PLN 131.7 billion. (PAP)
