After Balice in Krakow and Ławica in Poznań, next year there will be another airport in Poland where you will not have to worry about the capacity of the liquid you bring to check-in. This time, passengers using the largest Polish airport will be able to enjoy it. Fryderyk Chopin in Warsaw – reports fly4free.pl.

However, you will have to wait a while for the convenience. The installation of special scanners will begin in January 2026. However, their launch will take place in spring at the earliest, just before the start of the summer season, most likely in May or June.

What exactly will change? Modern 3D scanners used to check hand luggage will allow passengers to board planes taking off from Warsaw's Okęcie Airport. You will be able to bring up to 2 liters of liquids in your hand luggage. Currently, in the vast majority of airports, a liquid container can hold a maximum of 100 ml, and a total of 1 liter can be carried in a transparent cosmetic bag.

The increased limit will not only apply to water or other drinks, but also, for example, cosmetics.

Larger liquid limits soon at other airports

Chopin Airport will be the third one in Poland where the new scanners will be operational. In September 2025, such devices appeared in Kraków and Poznań.

Modern scanners have also been operating at the Lublin airport since the beginning of 2025, but they do not have an EU certificate. This means that passengers flying from Świdnik do not have to take out bottles of liquids from their suitcases and backpacks, but they can still contain a maximum of 100 ml.

Let us remind you that the tender for the purchase of new scanners was also resolved by the authorities of the Rzeszów-Jasionka airport. Their launch is scheduled for mid-2026. The situation is similar at the airports in Gdańsk and Katowice.

However, the Wrocław airport is not eager to replace the scanners. Its authorities did not take advantage of the break lasting over a month due to the largest renovation in its history.
