The Mozambique national team confirmed on Monday their qualification for the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations. The results of Groups A and B of the competition confirmed that the 'Mambas' will be at least one of the four best third-placed teams in the group stage.
Comoros, in Group A, and Angola, in Group B, finished third in their respective groups but collected just two points, one less than the Mozambicans, who, entering the third stage, are ranked third in Group F.
The third position in this group is also assured, as the only opponent who could reach Chiquinho Conde's team in terms of points is Gabon, who still have no points.

A win for the Gabonese in the last leg and a defeat for Mozambique would leave both teams with three points, but the Mozambican team's 3-2 victory in the second leg guaranteed them the head-to-head advantage, according to Abola.
