The Russian Federation attacked port infrastructure in the Odessa region. Panama-flagged grain ship damaged

According to preliminary data from Kuleba, one person was injured. The consequences of the strikes are being eliminated.

“The oil storage tanks of one of the industrial enterprises were damaged. A civilian ship carrying grain under the flag of Panama, located on the territory of the port, was also damaged,” Kuleba said.

According to him, despite the shelling, seaports continue to operate in compliance with safety requirements.

As Kuleba pointed out, this was another targeted attack by Russia on civilian port infrastructure.

“Russia practically hits Ukrainian ports with missiles and drones every day, trying to destroy logistics, complicate exports and undermine the food security of the world,” Kuleba wrote.

According to him, over the past year the intensity of attacks on port infrastructure has increased significantly. In 2025, 90 combined Russian strikes were recorded, which is twice as many as in the same period last year.

Since the beginning of the year, almost 800 air raid alerts have been sounded in the Odessa region, their total duration being more than a month.

Therefore, as Kuleba said, the presence of shelters directly on the territory of the ports is of fundamental importance. Currently, the network of mobile shelters is being expanded in all ports of the Odessa and Nikolaev regions. More than 50 mobile structures have already been installed, the Deputy Prime Minister indicated.

According to him, the number of stationary shelters has also increased – today there are more than 30 of them in seaports.

They are working separately with the military to strengthen the protection of the ports themselves. “For security reasons, we do not disclose details, but we are carrying out systematic work with the military defense forces in cooperation with other services and international partners,” Kuleba added.

As noted in the regional state administration on Facebook, the Russian army this morning again massively attacked the Odessa region with attack drones. They also indicated that empty tanks were damaged.

Context

In early December, the illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened to “expand the range” of Russian strikes against “port facilities and ships that enter Ukrainian ports.” “The most radical way,” according to him, is to “cut off Ukraine from the sea.”

As a result of a rocket attack on the port of Pivdenny on the evening of December 19, seven people were killed and at least 15 more were injured.

On December 24, the head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, Oleg Kiper, reported that as a result of a massive attack by the Russian Federation on the port of Pivdenny, one of the tanks with sunflower oil was damaged, some of the oil fell onto the territory of the enterprise, the roadway, into the water area of the estuary with subsequent access to the Black Sea.
