The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously reported that Ukraine tried to attack Putin's residence in the Novgorod region with drones at night. According to Sergei Lavrov, the head of Russian diplomacy, the Ukrainians used 91 drones, all of which were shot down. The minister added that no one was hurt in the attack and the drones did not cause any damage.
However, on Monday morning, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that 89 drones were shot down or destroyed over the entire country, including 18 over the Novgorod Oblast.
The Kremlin, citing an alleged attempt to attack the residence, threatened to change his position in ongoing talks to end the war.
US President Donald Trump also commented on the matter on Monday, saying that Putin had informed him about the alleged Ukrainian attack, which made Trump “very angry”. However, he admitted that it was possible that the attack did not take place at all.
