The prosecutor's office is questioning TVP employees. It's about millions of dollars of abuse

The proceedings regarding abuses at TVP under its previous management were initiated in January last year by the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, but after a few months they were taken over by the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Kraków.
As its spokesman Janusz Kowalski informed Wirtualne Media, this is a case of failure to fulfill duties and abuse of powers “concluding, in order to obtain financial benefits, mandate contracts and contracts for specific work relating to the organizational activities of the Television Information Agency, TVP3 and the local branch of TVP SA in Warsaw, resulting in large-scale damage in the total amount of PLN 3,111,085”.

The interrogations are related to the crime under Art. 296 of the Penal Code, which concerns “causing damage in business transactions”, as well as Art. 12 of the Penal Code, i.e. the so-called a continuous act, which means “two or more actions undertaken in quick succession in execution of a predetermined intention.”
The Code provides for penalties ranging from one to even 10 years of imprisonment for such offenses. However, as the spokesman for the prosecutor's office emphasizes in an interview with Wirtualne Media, the proceedings are currently ongoing “in a case”, i.e. not against a specific person, and “in the course of it, numerous civil law contracts concluded with employees of TVP SA are being verified.”
