The international youth festival, which was supposed to take place in Krasnoyarsk in 2026, may be moved to another city. The reason is large-scale preparations for the 400th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk.

Earlier, Governor Mikhail Kotyukov repeatedly announced the holding of an event in Krasnoyarsk, which was supposed to surpass the Winter Universiade in terms of the number of participants. It was expected that 10 thousand people would come to the city, half of them foreigners, the governor reported. President Vladimir Putin also supported the initiative.

However, now the regional administration is asking to postpone the festival to 2028. “We don’t want to invite guests to the construction site,” Kotyukov explained in an interview with the Vesti TV channel.

The final decision on holding the festival will now be made by the federal center. According to media reports, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan and the federal territory Sirius are being considered as alternative sites.
