In accordance with applicable procedures, the Operational Command of the Armed Forces mobilized the necessary forces and resources at its disposal. Fighters began operating, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems reached a state of readiness.
These actions are preventive in nature and are aimed at securing the airspace and its protection, especially in areas adjacent to threatened areas.
“The Operational Command of the Armed Forces is monitoring the current situation, and the subordinate forces and resources remain ready for immediate response,” reads the army's statement.
Due to the need to ensure freedom of operation of military aviation airports in Rzeszów and Lublin temporarily suspended flight operations – the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) announced on Saturday on the X platform.
Russia attacks Ukraine
Let us recall that despite the Christmas holidays, Russia's activity has not stopped for a moment in recent days.
On Thursday, Polish fighters intercepted, visually identified and escorted a Russian reconnaissance plane that was flying over the Baltic Sea, near the borders of Polish airspace. This was announced by the Operational Command of the Branches of the Armed Forces on December 25.
