From February 1 next year, tickets in Rome will cost 2 euros for tourists who want to see the Trevi Fountain up close, announced the mayor of the Eternal City, Roberto Gualtieri. Residents of the Italian capital will be exempt from the fee.

In the case of the famous Baroque fountain, a ticket will be required for those tourists who want to get as close as possible to it and stand at its edge.
The authorities of Rome also decided that the list of monuments subject to an entrance fee from February 1 will also include: Villa Maxentius in via Appia Antica, the Napoleonic Museum, the museum of ancient sculpture named after Giovanni Barracco, the Carlo Bilotti museum in the former orangery in the Villa Borghese park and the museum dedicated to the sculptor Pietro Canonica also in this park.
