Almost 500 drones and 40 rockets
Russia used nearly 500 drones and 40 missiles on Saturday for the attack, the main target of which was the Ukrainian capital, wrote Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Telegram messenger. According to mayor Vitali Klitschko, 22 people were injured as a result of the Russian attack on Kyiv.
“The main target is Kiev: energy and civil infrastructure. Unfortunately, residential buildings are also hit,” Zelensky said, adding that rescue services and renovation teams are working on energy infrastructure facilities that were damaged during the attacks.
The president referred to talks on concluding peace with Russia.
“Russian representatives are conducting long talks, but in fact Kindzhaly and Shahedy are speaking for them. This is the true attitude of Putin and his entourage,” Zelensky wrote, adding that Russia does not want to end the war. At the same time, Zelensky called on the US and European countries to increase pressure on the Kremlin and support Ukraine's defense capabilities, especially when it comes to air defense systems.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine also commented on the Russian attack. “Russia's only response to peace efforts is a brutal attack using hundreds of drones and missiles on Kiev and other cities and regions,” wrote Andriy Sybiha on the X platform.
According to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, one third of Kiev is without heat. Local authorities reported that in the Ukrainian capital, more than 2,600 residential buildings, 187 health care facilities, 138 schools and kindergartens were without heating. About 320 thousand customers in the Kiev Oblast are deprived of electricity supplies. (PAP)
