New Year's garland in the interior: I overheard the designers' advice – I decorate not only the Christmas tree

A New Year's garland is the main attribute of December, which after the holidays is most often sent into a box until next year.

Modern LED garlands are not just decoration, but a full-fledged decorative element that can transform a space at any time of the year.

Interior designers share creative cozy ideas that will make you take a fresh look at the humble garland.

1. Light picture or inscription

Forget about banal hanging on the wall.

Using clear spider hooks or thin masking tape, garland a silhouette: a mountain range, the outline of a heart, a constellation, or a motivating word.

Such a light art object will create a magical accent in the bedroom or above the desk, replacing an expensive neon sign.

2. Dream headboard

Wrap the garland around your bed's headboard or frame. For wooden headboards, use small “running” lights; for fabric or frameless ones, use a string garland or cord with ball lamps.

This will create an incredibly cozy, romantic atmosphere and will be an excellent alternative to sconces.

3. Revitalize boring furniture

An empty wall, a massive closet or a gray chest of drawers can sparkle with new colors.

Place string lights behind glass buffet fronts to highlight beautiful tableware.

Wrap it around the legs of a console table or run along the shelves of an open shelving unit, nestling beautifully between books and decor.

This will add volume and mystery to the interior.

4. Magic in jars and vases

Carefully place the garland in a large transparent vase, jar or bottle of an unusual shape, disguising the power supply among decorative pebbles, pine cones or coffee beans.

You will receive an autonomous, mobile and absolutely safe lamp that can be placed on a shelf, dining table or in the bathroom.

5. Starry sky on the balcony or in a niche

If you have a balcony, loggia or deep window niche, this is the ideal place to create a “star” corner.

Randomly attach a long garland to the ceiling or walls, creating the effect of twinkling stars.

In combination with blankets and pillows, such a corner will become a favorite place for evening tea all year round.

6. Focus on the mirror

Framing a mirror is one of the most effective techniques.

Attach a garland around the perimeter of the mirror, especially in the hallway or bathroom.

Reflection will double the number of lights, making the space brighter and visually larger. And in the morning such a mirror is guaranteed to lift your spirits.

7. Light curtain for zoning

A long curtain garland with vertical falling threads is a ready-made solution for zoning.

Use it to separate the work area from the bedroom in a one-room apartment, create a soft screen on the balcony or a frame for a holiday table. This creates a feeling of privacy without weighing down the space.

For permanent decoration, choose garlands with a warm white or soft yellow glow – they create the most cozy light. Leave multi-color and flashing modes for the holidays.

And remember the main rule: safety first. Use quality, certified string lights, do not leave them on unattended for long periods of time, and avoid proximity to flammable fabrics.

A Christmas garland is a multi-functional decorative tool with great potential. Don't just limit yourself to the Christmas tree.

Give free rein to your imagination, and ordinary lights will help you create an atmosphere of magic in your home, which is so important at any time of the year.
