The winning numbers in Wednesday's drawing were: 4, 25, 31, 52 and 59, and the Powerball was 19.
This is the fourth-largest winnings in US lottery history. The prize was previously drawn on Christmas Eve in 2011.
Previously, the six winning numbers were selected in early September, with the winnings amounting to $1.787 billion. Since then, no one has won the top prize in 46 consecutive drawings.
The odds of winning Powerball are 1 in 292.2 million. The winner can choose to receive a one-time payment, estimated in this case at approximately USD 834 million, or to pay the winnings in 30 installments. The amounts shown do not include taxes.
