VIDEO Santa's parking lot. The explanations of a deputy when he was caught in Parliament with a BMW X5 that does not appear in his wealth declaration

Deputy Bogdan Alin-Stoica was filmed by HotNews at the Parliament the other day, when he came with a BMW X5 M, a car that does not appear in the declaration of assets. According to the document posted on the website of the Chamber of Deputies, the elected official does not have a car.

Alin-Bogdan Stoica obtained the parliamentary mandate in the December 2024 elections with 9,177 votes. He represents the Romanian Albanian community in the Parliament and is part of the group of national minorities. Stoica is 38 years old and is in her third term in Parliament.

Initially, deputy Stoica said: “I came to take something from the car, not mine”

On December 17, in the special parking lot for deputies, I filmed Alin-Bogdan Stoica with a BMW X5 M, an older generation car, whose market value can vary between 40,000 and 70,000 euros, depending on the year and engine.

Asked if the BMW belonged to him, since it does not appear in the asset declaration, the deputy replied that he had come to take something from the car and that it did not belong to him.

“belongs to the mother-in-law”

“I'm sorry. It belongs to my mother-in-law, to my mother-in-law's company, the car is not mine. She came with her to Bucharest to fix it, I don't know what to do with it, I just came to take a backpack from the car until it returns from where it is,” was the explanation offered by Alin-Bogdan Stoica to HotNews.

Parliamentarian Stoica's explanation shows that the mother-in-law parked the car. The rule says that in the premises of the Parliament, people do not have access to park if they do not have a special ID card or are not allowed access behind the barriers installed at the gate.

“I'm coming with a Dacia to Parliament”

Asked if the mother-in-law came to Parliament by car or he, the deputy admitted that he drove the car.

“I came and then I go to pick her up from where she is to do her Christmas shopping. It belongs to my mother-in-law's company. I bring a Dacia to the Parliament. Today, when I had to come to the Parliament, I couldn't leave her, where should I leave her? I left her in the morning to do her shopping, what does she have to do, I'll go with her and we'll go home,” the deputy claimed.

Deputy Bogdan Alin-Stoica said that he came to the car in the Parliament parking lot just to get a backpack, until his mother-in-law returned

He explained that he came with his mother-in-law from Dolj county, on the very day when the Parliament had the final vote on several draft laws.

“If I allowed it and I'm a man, how can I let you handle it? I drove it all the way to Bucharest. I came in the morning, because it's close,” Bogdan Alin-Stoica justified himself.

The phenomenon of hidden cars

Investigative website Snoop has published a series of articles about cars worth tens or over a hundred thousand euros that MPs drive, even though they don't appear in their wealth declarations.

For example, the MP Răzvan Ciortea (PSD) was filmed at the Parliament Palace while he was riding a BMX XM, a machine with a market value of over 150,000 euros. Răzvan Ciortea claimed that the car was “his dream”, and he can afford it because he has a “salary”.

“I don't give explanations to anyone,” said MP Ciortea.

Another parliamentarian was Mihai Weber, 61 years old, PSD deputy. He is the president of the Defense, Public Order and National Security Committee in the Chamber of Deputies.

The deputy was filmed by Snoop while he got into a Mercedes AMG GLE 53, the hybrid version, which has a value on specialist websites of over 140,000 euros. The car is not included in the asset declaration submitted in June 2025. The car appears in the estate of a village shop.

The mother-in-law's firm declares “losses” every year. The deputy lends the firm

Returning to the recent case of deputy Stoica, he is vice-president of the League of Albanians in Romania, according to the declaration of interests he submitted to Parliament. The League of Albanians receives almost 6 million lei from the state, according to the official figure from 2025.

“We estimate that we have more than 10,000 people in the Albanian community. The last census gave a totally unrealistic figure,” said deputy Bogdan Alin-Stoica in an interview with the public television station in 2021.

The deputy's wife is employed at Silam SRL from Craiova, the “mother-in-law's company”. According to termene.ro website, the company is owned by Spătărelu Camelia Luminița, who is also the administrator of the company.

The company owns two leased cars: a Mercedes Benz C200 D and a Ford Transit. For both cars, the leasing period has ended, according to termene.ro.

From 2013 until now, the commercial company declared year after year that it had losses, except for 2014 when it had a profit of 1,583 lei.

The turnover for 2024 was 581,588 lei. The loss last year was over 142,000 lei.

In the last declaration of assets, the deputy stated that he loaned the company SILAM SRL more than 250,000 lei. The loans are older and have the same value from the June 2022 wealth statement, the amounts have not changed.

After the wedding, the deputy declared in 2019 that he had obtained gifts worth 80,000 euros.

Deputy Stoica's father-in-law is a PSD member and mayor of Malu Mare commune, Dolj county. He also appears to have loaned Silam SRL 45,000 lei.
