“November is usually the month when the number of unemployed people increases” – emphasizes the Ministry of Labor. It also points out that, according to Eurostat numbers, Poland is still among the leading European Union countries with the lowest level of unemployment.
The increase in unemployment at the end of the year is a typical phenomenon and results from the so-called seasonality of the labor market. The main reason for this trend is expiration of seasonal work in agriculture, horticulture and constructionwhere due to the deteriorating weather conditions and the approaching winter, the demand for employees is rapidly decreasing.
Additionally, during this period, fixed-term employment contracts in the tourism and outdoor services sector expire, and some professional activation programs implemented by labor offices expire, which results in the re-registration of unemployed people in the system.
