Fighting between government forces and Kurds in Syria. At least two people are dead


According to a statement from the Ministry of Health in Damascus, SDF troops were to shell residential areas of Aleppo. The Ministry of Defense said that Kurdish fighters were to carry out a “sudden attack on the security forces and army” in two districts of the city.
The SDF denied these accusations and said the attack using tanks and artillery was carried out by armed units linked to the Syrian government. In response to this announcement, the authorities in Damascus emphasized that their actions were “a response to the fire from Kurdish forces.”

In the opinion of the Turkish authorities, the US-backed SDF troops, which control large areas of north-eastern Syria, are a terrorist organization. Ankara threatened to take military action itself unless Syrian Kurdish units fulfill the agreement with the authorities in Damascus.
