The Department for Emergency Situations has made a series of recommendations to the population so that there are no unpleasant situations during the holidays, writes Agerpres.
Whether it is preparing dishes in the kitchen or decorating the house for the holidays, a series of measures must be observed.
“Simple precautions help you enjoy your favorite dishes without risk. Also, keep children away from the cooking area and do not leave them unsupervised in the kitchen,” DSU said on Facebook on Tuesday.
Tips for Christmas 2025 and New Year's Eve 2026
Advice for the public:
* do not leave the kitchen while you are cooking, especially when you have dishes on the fire;
* if the oil in the pot catches fire, do not use water; immediately turn off the gas/electricity source and quickly cover the vessel with a metal lid or a wet towel, wrung out well to stop the oxygen supply;
* orient the handle of pans and pots towards the inside of the stove or stove to avoid accidental tipping, especially if you have children or pets;
* keep kitchen towels, textile gloves, paper and any other combustible material away from the stove and open flame;
* after you finish cooking, always check and turn off the stove and oven, before leaving the house or going to bed.

And in terms of arranging the house for the holidays, the authorities come up with a series of recommendations:
* use only electrical installations and decorations in perfect working order, and if they are defective, have non-insulated wires or are improvised, give them up – the repair of defects is done only by authorized persons;
* do not overload the electrical installation, avoid the simultaneous use of several devices with high consumption (heating devices or other household appliances) in the same socket or extension cord, because overloading can lead to overheating and fire;
* position the tree at a safe distance from heat sources (fireplaces, stoves, radiators, stoves) and from sources of open fire (candles, lighters);
* make sure that the tree is mounted stably and cannot be accidentally knocked over by children, pets or air currents.
“Protect your home and family so that the magic of the holidays is complete! Take care of the things that give color to this period”,
