Will Blue City be replaced by residential buildings? There is a plan “B”
The vice-president of the management board of Blue City, Yoram Reshef, talks to Property News about the current stage of the case. — We are trying to get out of the last stage of trouble. We have a court supervisor and I think that everything will be clear by the end of March 2026, he explains.
As the vice-president of Blue City adds, shopping centers around the world often face similar problems. Reshef said that in the US, many of them are closing and demolishing, and housing developments are being built in place of old buildings.
As he admits, he already has a plan “B”. — If it turns out that the gallery is no longer needed, I won't organize a circus in it, but perhaps we will demolish it and build apartments. – adds Yoram Reshef.
The entrepreneur also emphasized that the transformation of nearby commercial buildings into apartments could also benefit Blue City by attracting new customers. As an example, he gave a plot located at the back of the center at al. Bohaterów Września, where the new owner plans to build 600 apartments for rent.

How big is the Blue City shopping center?
The Blue City shopping center was opened in 2004 at Al. Jerozolimskie. The building is located on a plot of 4 ha. The volume of the entire building is approx. 185,000. m. However, the retail space covers approx. 65,000 m2. sq m, and 33 thousand sq m – offices. In the years 2018–2021, the first miniature IKEA store in Poland and in the world operated in the center.
