“Surgery, radiation therapy, hormonal therapy – this is the path we must take to cure this type of cancer. Despite the rather aggressive side effects, I am grateful to science for the invention of hormonal therapy – it effectively protects against relapses, which often occur in the years after diagnosis,” Bruni wrote.
She urged women with the same diagnosis as hers to hang in there.
“Hormonal therapy is a fairly complex treatment, but its effectiveness can save your life. I want to reiterate to all women reading this post – do not hesitate to get tested every year if possible,” she added.
Bruni said she was grateful to the medical team who treated her.
“Their competence and compassion were invaluable to me during this difficult time,” said the former first lady of France.
Bruni admitted that she has breast cancer in the fall of 2023. According to the artist, thanks to timely examinations, she managed to avoid removal of the mammary gland.
“If I didn't do this every year, I wouldn't have one of my breasts today. I'm not posting this to tell you about my health. It's disgusting to me and I hesitated for a long time before speaking. No, I'm posting this today because I have a message to get across. This is the main message for all the women who follow me – get a mammogram every year,” she urged.
