Ciprian Ciucu officially took over his duties as general mayor of Bucharest after taking the oath on Friday, in a meeting that started at 17:00. In his first speech as general mayor, he talked about the financial situation of the mayor's office and said that he wants to create a large majority in the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest (CGMB).

Ciprian Ciucu said, after taking the oath, in the presence of the general councilors and other guests, that in the coming period “we will have a lot of work”.

“I will have discussions with leaders of the parties in the CGMB, I want to have as wide a majority as possible. In the coming period we will have a lot of work. I know that we organized this meeting just a few hours after receiving the certificate in court, but we chose to hold this meeting, and I thank you for accepting so quickly, precisely because the time is short until the end of the year and there are still some things to do”, said Ciprian Ciucu.

“In the next two years and a few months I will be very present”

The new general mayor of the Capital said that he will most likely organize a series of CGMB meetings until the end of the year, “because the financial situation is not very good and I want to see what else we can do until the end of the year”.

“I am confident, in the next two years and a few months I will be very present. Certain reforms that I have thought of will follow and I am convinced that this CGMB is in good faith and together we will balance Bucharest. I want you to trust that after we stabilize Bucharest will start to look like a European Capital. It is the responsibility of each of us to see this in the quality of people's lives”, said Ciucu.

He announced the first press conference in the new position

Ciprian Ciucu announced during his speech to the journalists present at the event that he will not make any other statements this evening.

“Tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. I invite you to a press conference. I also thank Mr. Stelian Bujduveanu, I also managed to talk to several directors from the mayor's office. I will tell you tomorrow how I see this mandate in the coming years”, explained the new general mayor.

“I want to collaborate well with the sector mayors as well. I want to be a support for them and ask for their support when I need it, I want to see each other often. There will be an interesting period, I can promise you that,” assured Ciprian Ciucu.

The announcement about the swearing in of the new mayor of the Capital was made on Friday, four hours before the ceremony.

Ciprian Ciucu won the position of general mayor of the Capital following the partial local elections of December 7 with 36.16% of the votes (over 211,000 votes). He thus prevailed in front of Anca Alexandrescu, supported by AUR (21.94%), Daniel Băluță, from PSD (20.51%), respectively Cătălin Drula, from USR (13.90%).

Once he took the oath, Ciprian Ciucu officially took over the duties of general mayor, which means that in District 6 the duties of the mayor were taken over by the vice-mayor Paul Moldovan.
