Diana Şoșoaca, the head of the Sovereign Party SOS, was cited on Tuesday at the General Prosecutor's Office as a suspect. The Şoșoaca presented the document on his Facebook page, in a clip in which he commented on the prosecutor's office.

Diana Şoșoaca was called for hearings at the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, on September 23, at 12.00, according to the document, writes Agerpres.

According to the citation, the shock is accused of:

  • deprivation of freedom illegally (4 offenses)
  • The promotion, in the public, of the cult of persons guilty of committing genocide offenses against humanity and war crimes, as well as the act of promoting, in public, ideas, fascist, legionary, racist or xenophobic (4 offenses) doctrines (4 offenses)
  • denial, challenge, approval, justification or minimization obviously, by any means, in public, of the Holocaust or its effects
  • outrage

Prosecutors have drawn to her attention that if they do not show up to hearings, they could be brought with a mandate, writes Agerpres.

How Diana Şoşoaca reacted

“I am suspected of everything. Not Iohannis, not Bolojan, not Iliescu,” commented, in the clip posted on the Facebook page, where he showed the citation received.

In a statement, the SOS Romania party says that “the most vocal politician in support of Palestine received a summons as a suspect, in which 11 offenses are mentioned, including promotion in public of legionaryism, anti-Semitism and denying or minimizing the Holocaust.”

In the statement, the SOS also draws the attention of the opposition parties that “their passivity in such cases, in which politicians are persecuted for the crime of opinion, will attract their own conviction.”

Criminal file after participating in the commemoration of Zelea-Codreanu

At the end of November 2024, the Şoșoaca participated in the Troița in the Ilfovean locality Tăcăbești, in a commemoration dedicated to the leader of the Legionary Movement, Corneliu Zelea Codreanu, and 13 other members of the far right organization.

“It is my right to consider who I want a patriot,” said Diana Şoșoacă about Codreanu, in a transmission on Facebook.

A month before, in October 2024, the General Prosecutor's Office opened a criminal case after the MEP paid tribute to the former legionary leader. Dissatisfied that the judges of the Constitutional Court invalidated the presidential candidacy, Soșoaca transmitted LIVE on YouTube, where he launched a praised message to Codreanu.

“From this moment, it is over with Romania, there is no state, there is nothing more. I can only say” Live the Legion and the captain “who were killed by the same Jewish power that acted now. Shame on everyone!”, Said Şoșoaca.

In February 2025, the Institute for the Investigation of Communism Crimes and the memory of the Romanian exile (IICCMER) filed a complaint against the MEP, accusing it of promoting the cult of dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, convicted for genocide.

On February 11, 2025, in the plenary of the European Parliament, Diana Şoșoaca had an intervention in which he recommended the MEPs to elaborate the foreign policy strategies according to the model of the former communist leader, stating: “No one ever equalized”.
