From January 1, Russia will introduce new measures to support families with children

New tools will appear in Russia to help families with children, said President Vladimir Putin.

“I would like to draw your attention to the fact that additional measures to support families with children will be introduced on January 1,” he said during a direct line combined with a press conference.

For example, from the beginning of next month they will be able to receive a tax deduction, the head of state noted.

“Of the 13 percent of personal income tax paid in families where incomes are modest, there is less than one and a half subsistence minimum wages per person, <...> seven percent <...> will come back,” he explained.

Low incomes are also eligible for additional financial support, the president added.

According to him, the decisions already taken are not enough, but the authorities will strive to further improve the system. All policies at both the federal and regional levels should revolve around this, the head of state emphasized.

He also asked the government to consider measures that would allow benefits not to be reduced as incomes grow. Putin called attempts to benefit at the expense of large families immoral. The President pointed out the mistake of the executive body, which in such a situation reduced support.

“And it turns out that it’s pointless to work. This discourages people. <...> I am sure that the Ministry of Finance and the entire government leadership will hear what we are saying now,” the head of state added.

He also called for the issue of providing preferential mortgages to be worked out and mandatory support for families who spend more than 22 percent of their income on housing and communal services. In matters of demography, much is connected with financial situation, the president concluded.
