In the press release, the president of the CJC states that his mandate “terminates by relinquishing office“, emphasizing that it was about “a very difficult decision, on which I persisted for a long time“. He states that he chose to make public the reason for his resignation “out of respect for all the citizens of the county, whether they supported me or not“.
The basis of the decision is, according to their own statements, “a deep disappointment”. “I am appalled by the fierce desire of some to keep the county as submerged as possible, as devoid of investment as possible, as invisible as possible, serving only small interests. And I am equally appalled by the great mass of politicians and decision-makers in the administration, who choose to remain indifferent, just to keep their position. I cannot“, states Florin Mitroi.
“I took an oath”
The resigned president says he cannot remain passive in the face of the current situation. “I took an oath, that I will serve the interest of the citizen. I cannot stand idly by as it is ignored,” it is shown in the press release.
He explains that he ran for this position convinced that he represents “the best direction to be able to develop the county“, but admits that, from this position, “I can't do more for the citizens or change the way the administration is seen“.
Two options and a choice
The communiqué presents the two options he had: to continue until the end of the mandate, risking disappointing the citizens due to the limitations and constant pressures, or to give up the position. He chose the second option, “out of respect for you and for me, to be able to achieve what I set out to do, but in a different way”.
“It's a voluntary, self-assured withdrawal. I hope you see it as an honorable decision, and not a weakness“, he emphasizes.
Balance sheet and message for the future
Florin Mitroi claims that he took “correct decisionseven if some were disturbing“, recalling that he canceled “unfair contracts” and opened “doors to transparency”. “Put actions before words“, he conveys.
Finally, he thanks those who supported him – citizens, colleagues, the team and the media, and expresses his hope for a stable County Council, with “a ready team and projects that will continue, regardless of the name“.
“I bow to the citizens of this county and hope the next president loves them as much as I do. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything we've built together so far!”the statement also states.
