Surprisingly bad data on industrial production. Here's what happened


Industrial performance is a key element of economic growth in Poland. The success of other industries depends on whether it will export enough, provide employment to many Poles, or pay wages. And in this context, the data for November do not give much optimism.
Economists, after surprisingly good data in previous months, when they were wrong in minus for four months in a row, this time they overshot. They forecast an increase of 2.7%. rdr.
Meanwhile, in November this year the sold production of industry was by 1.1 percent lower than last year (when a decline of 1.3% was recorded), however compared to October this year. decreased by as much as 9.3%. – the Central Statistical Office reported.
Unfortunately, this is a consequence of the decline in the key Polish production industry – food processing. Sold production decreased here by as much as 8.8%. compared to October, and increased by 2.5%. year to year. The food industry accounts for as much as 18.2 percent. production of the entire Polish industry.
In the top five industries, it fell by 2.4%. y/y and 12.4 percent mdm production of rubber and plastic products, and by 2.1 percent y/y decreased and by 10.1%. mdm, the production of the energy industry increased. The latter, i.e. the month-on-month increase in the energy sector, is a natural, seasonal factor – it is simply colder and the days are shorter.
The sectors producing cars and car parts (+2.5% y/y, -8.7% m/m) and the production of metal products (+1.8% y/y and -9.3% m/m) recorded year-on-year growth.
In the period January–November this year. sold industrial production was 2.5 percent. higher than in the same period of 2024 (then there was an increase of 0.5%).
After eliminating the influence of seasonal factors, in November this year sold industrial production amounted to 0.8%. higher than in the same month last year and by 1.6 percent. lower than in October this year. – explains the Central Statistical Office.
