“The demanding summit in Brussels did not start well. An escalator crushed our plane at the airport,” Robert Fico said after the incident.
The Slovak Prime Minister also said that he can no longer fly with the plane “and we have to leave him here”. Fico would return to Slovakia on Friday, TASR reports.
On Wednesday, Robert Fico participated in the EU leaders' summit with the heads of state or government of the Western Balkan countries on Wednesday evening. On Thursday morning he intended to attend a meeting of the informal group on industry and competitiveness, which will be followed by the European Council summit.
During the summit, EU leaders discuss the financing of Ukraine, European security, the expansion of the EU bloc and the EU's long-term budget for the period 2028-2034.
