On the eve of the New Year holidays, the question of time becomes especially acute: how to have time to prepare everything and set a rich table? Cooking vegetables, including beets, traditionally takes many hours. However, EAOMedia reveals a trick that experienced housewives use to cook beets in just 15 minutes – quickly, odorless and with excellent results.
Ingredients:
- Beets (as needed)
- Boiling water
- A piece of bread crust
Step by step method:
- Rinse the beets thoroughly without cutting off the tail – this will help retain the juice inside.
- Place the vegetables in boiling water and cook for 15 minutes over high heat, uncovered.
- 2 minutes after boiling, add a piece of bread crust to the pan – it will absorb excess fumes and prevent the spread of unpleasant odors throughout the apartment.
- When the time is up, immediately transfer the beets to ice water for 15 minutes.
Why does this work?
Rapid cooling creates the effect of “sealing” the heat inside. This allows the vegetable to cook evenly even after turning off the stove, while the pulp remains incredibly juicy and bright.
Result:
- Beets are easy to clean – the peel is removed by hand;
- Retains rich color and sweet taste;
- Ready in 30 minutes (including cooling);
- There is no characteristic “beetroot” smell in the house.
