“We want peace. We do not want a truce to give Ukraine a break and prepare for the continuation of the war,” he said.
The idea of stopping hostilities at the front during the Christmas Christian holidays was put forward the day before by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
The American side also agrees with it, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said the day before.
“The United States supports this idea. As president, I certainly support this idea. I believe that an energy truce is normal. We will support any ceasefire,” the head of state noted.
