The President of the UDMR Kelemen Hunor declared, on Digi24, that he also does not trust the justice system, but only part of its problems can be solved by legislative means. On the other hand, Kelemen denied the accusations coming from the magistrates' environment, after which there would be a campaign of the political environment against the magistrates' body.
“People don't trust the judiciary. I don't trust the judiciary either. I trust the judges and the prosecutors, that there are also wonderful people there, but I don't trust the system either. Not from today, not from yesterday, for 20 years (…) Of course, I will not agree to go back to where we left”, said Kelemen Hunor when he was invited to comment on the scandal in the judiciary.
He justified his claim by the existence of protocols between the intelligence services and institutions in the judicial system that had been in place for several years.
“I don't want us to go back there. That's why we need to find that balance through which people regain confidence in the judiciary,” said the UDMR president.

He appreciated that the Parliament can regulate the legal provisions regarding the prescription of some facts, but other issues that have come to light in the last days should be regulated also from within the system. He specifically mentioned the insufficient number of magistrates.
“Don't call on politicians to solve problems that don't require changes to the law, because that would mean political interference in organizational and administrative matters,” believes the Union leader.
Referring to representatives of the judiciary who accused politicians of wanting to get involved in the system, Kelemen said: “This is really stupid. The politician really does not have a campaign. What, that he wants to fix the pension issue? The politician has withdrawn, there is no campaign of the politician against the judiciary.”
Kelemen Hunor recalled that the draft regulation of special pensions was criticized both by magistrates who support the current leadership of the ÎCCJ and CSM, as well as by magistrates who are critical of the leadership.
