An argument that broke out during a game specific to weddings escalated and turned into a physical altercation in which many guests were involved.
A 39-year-old man and his bride were transported to the hospital.
Initially, the Police were informed that approximately 30 people were involved in that fight, which led the authorities in the city of Hemer, located southeast of Dortmund, to respond to the incident on Saturday evening with a large deployment of law enforcement, writes Agerpres.
By the time police arrived, the fight had ended, but tensions were still high, a local spokesman said.
Witnesses told German police that the altercation began during a wedding game known as “throwing the tie”an equivalent of the much better known game of “throwing the bouquet” by the bride.
During this game, the groom's tie is thrown into the crowd to symbolically identify the next man in the audience to be married.
The German police are currently investigating four men aged 19, 28, 39 and 47 on suspicion of assault, in the context in which the suspects accuse each other of bodily harm.
