If Ukrzaliznytsia deals with corruption, it will be able to reduce transportation tariffs – Omelyan
Currently, Ukrzaliznytsia is losing hundreds of millions of dollars to corruption, and this is a very poor explanation for the increase in transportation tariffs. This was stated by former Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan.
“If the Supervisory Board and the Board will seriously clean up the company from corruption, it will be possible to even lower tariffs in some critical areas. Because if we want to raise tariffs to infinity, and at the same time steal by a factor of 2-5 times – sorry, no company in the world can stand this,” says Omelyan.
We would like to remind you that UZ has recently increased the tariffs for international connections – now the Przemyśl – Lviv ticket costs 1,008 hryvnias for a distance of 96 kilometers. This is more expensive than a ticket on the Polish railway Wroclaw – Prague, where the distance is 286 kilometers (874 hryvnias), and even more expensive than a ticket on the Swiss railway.
UZ also wants to increase the tariff for freight transportation by 37% – despite the criticism of business associations, which warned of a significant increase in the prices of products and construction materials in the event that this tariff is increased.
