In a video posted on Instagram, Zhao Tongyang, the CEO of the Chinese company EngineAI, equipped himself with protection for his legs, abdomen and head. His colleagues teased him, asking him if he was nervous. The blow followed, writes the Yahoo Finance website.
Then the company's T800 robot appeared and kicked Tongyang in the stomach, and he fell to the ground.
“Too violent!” Tongyang said in a translation. “Too brutal!”.
The video of the company's CEO was published after EngineAI posted another video of its humanoid robot performing kicks and jumps. Internet skeptics charged that the robot in the video was computer generated (CGI), so the company's next video showed the robot kicking the CEO in the stomach.
It is unclear whether EngineAI's T800 robot was remote-controlled or moved independently.
EngineAI raised $180.69 million in December 2025, according to PitchBook, in a funding round led by Chinese investment groups HPR Capital, Tsinghua Holdings Capital and Henan Investment Group.
