“Sorbona Paris Nord University sends congratulations to Nicușor Dan, elected president of Romania on May 18, 2025,” the prestigious higher education institution in France said on Tuesday, whose PhD was the independent candidate.

In an official statement published on the institution's Facebook page, the representatives of the Sorbona University emphasized the academic connections of Nicușor Dan with the university environment in Paris.

A similar greeting message for Nicușor Dan also came from Normal Supérieure (ENS), another well -known educational institution in France.

“The leadership of Normal Supérieure expresses all its congratulations to Nicușor Dan, former student of the school, elected on Sunday, May 18, 2025, as President of Romania,” said ENS.

“Admitted by the International Competition of ENS in 1992, gold medalist at the International Mathematics Olympiad, he later returned, after supporting his doctoral thesis in mathematics, in Romania, where he co-founded and led, among other things, Normal Supérieure in Bucharest,” the educational institution said.

According to the CV of the chosen president, Nicușor Dan was a student between 1992 and 1995, then made a master's degree and a doctorate in mathematics in Paris.
