The Russian Federation hit a Turkish ship en route to Egypt along the “grain corridor” with oil on board – Ukrainian Navy

It is reported that the passage into the sea was a “grain corridor”, and there were 11 Turkish citizens on board the vessel.

“The strike was carried out on the high seas in the exclusive maritime economic zone of Ukraine, outside the range of Ukrainian air defenses,” the statement said. “The Russian Federation grossly and cynically violates the norms of international maritime law. Such actions directly contradict the fundamental principles of freedom of navigation and are a blatant violation of the San Remo Convention.”

The Navy noted that they are in contact with the captain of the ship.

The maritime search and rescue service is ready to provide assistance if necessary, the statement said.

“Fortunately, the crew was not injured. The ship is heading to its destination port – Egypt,” the Ukrainian Navy emphasized.
