Syrsky told what was happening in Pokrovsk


“The enemy is trying to increase pressure on our defensive positions and is transferring additional reserves here,” the commander-in-chief wrote following a trip to the specified combat area.

Among the urgent tasks in the Pokrovsk direction, Syrsky named maintaining stable logistics, including to increase the fire impact on the invaders, as well as improving coordination between units of the defense forces.

“We remain faithful to the tactics of active defense. We are talking about improving the operational situation, conducting local operations to oust the enemy from certain territories, creating conditions for subsequent maneuvers of our forces,” the commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said.



Context

On October 22, Russian media wrote that the command of the Russian army had already promised the illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin the capture of Pokrovsk, as well as Kupyansk in the Kharkov region, therefore, in order to improve the positions of the occupying forces, Moscow is delaying the peace negotiation process.

On October 26, the Chief of the General Staff of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, reported to Putin about the alleged encirclement of Ukrainian troops near Kupyansk and Pokrovsk. Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Igor Klimenko, Syrsky, and later the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky denied this information.

On December 2, Putin, according to the Kremlin, allegedly visited one of the command posts of the joint group of Russian troops, where he was informed about the “capture” of Pokrovsk and Volchansk. Kharkov region, as well as about the “beginning of the operation” to occupy Gulyai-Polye. On the same day, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces denied these “bravura statements.”

On December 9, Syrsky reported that the defense of Pokrovsk continues and emphasized that “the volume of Russian lies far exceeds the real pace of advance of Russian troops.”
