What Vinnik said
Vinnik believes that people in Ukraine should not be prohibited from speaking Russian. He spoke about this in an interview, which was published on the YouTube channel on December 11 “RBC-Ukraine Life”. The conversation with Vinnik was recorded in Berlin (Germany), where he lives with his wife and son.
“Whoever wants to, learn Russian, open your own private schools. Either Chinese or English. This is very good. Moreover, we, in Ukraine, have a very huge percentage who spoke and speak Russian. These are Slavs, it should be,” Vinnik said.
The singer said that it is not the Russian language that kills Ukrainians, but directly the illegitimate president of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
“It cannot be that when we have a huge problem, we take the language as an enemy. It was not the language that attacked us. It was another nation that attacked us – Russia. And not even Russia, but these are the owners, who are Putin. I mean, “this” is power,” he said.
Flint reminded of linguocide by the Russian Federation
In April 2025, at that time Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language of Ukraine Taras Kremen emphasized that Russia is pursuing a policy of Russification in the territories of Ukraine it occupies.
“Over the 11 years of war in Ukraine, the language picture has significantly recovered. And today, the overwhelming majority of citizens of Ukraine, regardless of the region, be it the south, or the east, or the west of Ukraine, prefer the Ukrainian language both in official spheres of public life and in private communication. But, in fact, since 2014, numerous cases of linguocide, as well as the humiliation of people and the destruction of national identity, we continue to record this in the temporary occupation,” he emphasized.
Social media reactions
Some users were laconic in their assessments of the statement of the artist who fled abroad.
“Vinnik is a fucking man,” they responded briefly online.

“It came out. And immediately spreads pro-Russian narratives,” commented Vinnik’s statement online.
Oooh, it's gone. I am immediately expanding the pro-Rashkian narratives.
🤢It is not possible to defend the Russian language in Ukraine. Mi slov'yani. It was not the language that attacked us, but another nation – Russia. And it’s not Russia—it’s Putin, their ruler—Vinnik pic.twitter.com/X1X2AKqGqv

“Vinnik is such a idiot: he fled to Germany and from there he teaches us how we need to live. “The Rooster of Hamburg” – these are the words that clearly reveal who Vinnik is,” they wrote online.
“I never expected anything smart from him. Where he is fed, he grunts,” the Ukrainians reacted to Vinnik’s statement.
“Tell this whore that Russians are not Slavs! Once again he proved that he is stupid. And in general, who is he to impose Kremlin narratives,” commented Vinnik’s statement.
“I just came across a piece of Vinnik’s interview. God, how complete it is. Out of touch with reality. Presented himself as a “dove of peace,” but he himself remains the same shit,” they wrote online.
Ukrainian celebrities have not yet commented on the statement of their colleague, who admitted that there are four people left in Ukrainian show business with whom he keeps in touch.
Context
Vinnik secretly left Ukraine in February 2022 and went to Germany. The artist did not appear in public for some time, and then began performing in restaurants, performing his old songs in Russian.
This is Vinnik's first interview in the last two years.
