Former English footballer Wayne Rooney (40 years old) admitted that in 2004 he received death threats from Everton fans. It was from the Liverpool club that he transferred to Manchester United, where he spent most of his successful career.

The former striker, holder of five Premier League titles and one Champions League, joined United at the age of 18 for €27 million.

“My parents' house was vandalized and broken into. My then-girlfriend and current wife's house was also vandalized.

In such moments you have to be strong mentally and be helped by the people around you,” said Rooney, according to sport.aktuality.sk.

Wayne Rooney played for Manchester United between 2004 and 2017. During this time, he managed to score 253 goals and provide 142 assists in the 559 games he played.

In his career, he also played for DC United and Derby. He collected 120 games and 53 goals for the England national team.

He ended his career in 2021, having last appeared for Derby.

Manchester United, the club in whose shirt the former great striker wrote history, is ranked 6th in the Premier League, with 25 points obtained in the first 15 stages. The English are not playing in European cups this season.
