Krasnoyarsk residents were told how mass deratization will take place

The Krasnoyarsk administration explained the procedure for conducting a comprehensive work to combat the spread of rodents, the infestation of which affects city residents.

Mass pest control will take place in the city within a week, from December 15 to December 21, 2025. Residential areas, adjacent and urban areas will be treated against rats with chemicals. Mechanical traps will also be used; ultrasonic repellers; grain, container, briquetted and granular baits (they will be placed in places with an increased number of rodents, along the routes of their possible migration). In addition, it is planned to eliminate food sources and shelters for rodents.

Deratization will be carried out by management companies, homeowners associations, owners of retail outlets and container sites, organizations and enterprises of various forms of ownership. Representatives of the regional operator for the removal of solid municipal waste have also been instructed to intensify their work these days: before processing, containers, sites and garbage chutes must be cleaned, and all garbage must be removed.

​​“The main goal of complete deratization is to prevent and reduce the population of the city with rodents that can carry infectious diseases. For maximum effect, all events will be held simultaneously not only in Krasnoyarsk, but also in neighboring territories. Representatives of Rospotrebnadzor will monitor the process, the mayor’s office said. — Owners of pets who walk on the street need to be careful these days: do not allow pets to areas adjacent to garbage sites, containers, garbage chutes, etc.»

Let us recall that the decision on mass deratization was adopted by the sanitary and anti-epidemic commission under the regional government. ​According to the law, management organizations and owners of MSW accumulation sites are required to carry out rodent control once every 3 months in cold weather (+4 °C and below) and monthly in the warm season (+5 °C and above). It is also necessary to regularly disinfect containers and areas: in winter – once every 30 days, in summer – once every 10 days.
