Dorinel Munteanu, the new coach of the FC Hermannstadt team, spoke about the possible transfer of Kevin Ciubotaru to FCSB, but also about his goal at the Sibiu group.

The reigning champion of Romania revealed that FC Hermannstadt accepted 450,000 euros in exchange for the left back, but the team from Bucharest has not yet held negotiations with Ciubotaru, something that will happen with the start of the mercato period.

“I see a good thing if you have valuable players to sell. If Ciubotaru, who is a valuable player, has to leave, we cannot stop him. We are put here to find solutions and compensate for his departure,” Munteanu said, according to fanatik.ro.

President Daniel Niculae also spoke about the possible departure of Ciubotaru: “It is clear that there is an interest for Kevin both internally and externally. You have seen that Sibiu has also started transferring abroad. When things are signed, we will certainly make the respective announcement.”

Dorinel Munteanu: “I want Hermannstadt to be a strong, fearsome team”

Dorinel Munteanu also explained what his mission will be at FC Hermannstadt, a team currently in 15th place in the SuperLiga, penultimate, with only 12 points after 19 stages.

“From all points of view, I come with good thoughts. It is my most important challenge, taking into account that in Sibiu I had a very beautiful past, I spent beautiful moments. I have a lot of ties to this city, to this team.

I wish that, together with the staff, the players and the management, we can return the team to the identity it had in recent years, to be a strong team, to be feared in the Romanian championship”, said the technician.

Dorinel Munteanu started his career as head coach in 2005, on the bench of the CFR Cluj team, where he was also active as a player, then continuing at FC Argeş, FC Vaslui, Steaua Bucharest, U Cluj, Oţelul Galati, Dinamo Bucharest, Mordovia Saransk, Kuban Krasnodar, Gabala, Astra Giurgiu, Zakho FC and CSM Reşita.

He was the head coach at Oţelul Galati in the period 2009-2012, managing to win the championship and the Romanian Supercup in 2011, but also in the period 2021-2024, managing to bring the people from Galaţi back from League 3 to the Superleague and to a final of the Romanian Cup.

Hermannstadt parted almost a week ago with technician Marius Măldărăşanu.
