US President Donald Trump said on Monday that the US Army has made an attack on a ship to the United States and is part of the Venezuelan Drug Cartel, this being the second attack of the last weeks against a suspected drug transport, writes Reuters.

According to the White House leader, three men were killed in the attack, Trump adding that it took place in international waters.

“This morning, at my order, the US military forces performed a second kinetic attack against drug trafficking and narco-terrorist cards identified with certainty and extremely violent in the area of responsibility of Southcom,” Trump wrote in a post on his social network Truth Social.

“These extremely violent drug trafficking cartels are a threat to national security, foreign policy and vital interests,” Trump added.

Its post also included a video recording of almost 30 seconds, which shows a ship in a body of water exploding and then taking fire. Trump did not provide any evidence for his accusation that the ship was carrying drugs.

The Venezuelan Ministry of Communications did not respond immediately to a Reuters request to make details on this subject.

The most recent bombing comes in the context of a large American military conduct in the south of the Caribbean.

Five F-35 US aircraft were seen by landing in Puerto Rico on Saturday, after the Trump administration ordered ten of its invisible hunting aircraft (“stealth”) to join the military concentration in the region.

In the region there is also at least seven American war ships, along with a nuclear propulsion submarine.

A few hours before Trump's posting, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said that recent incidents between his country and the United States are a “aggression” from the US and that communication between the two governments has ceased.

The Trump Administration has provided little information about the first attack on September 2, despite the requests by the US legislators to justify the action. The Republican administration said that those on board were members of the Venezuelan band Aragua train and said that 11 people were killed.

The Pentagon did not publicly transmit which type of drugs transport the boat in the first attack or in what quantity, and not even what kind of weapons were used to make the attack.

American officials, who spoke under the protection of anonymity, told Reuters that the first boat that was hit earlier this month seemed to return when it was hit, which raised questions among legal experts on the legality of the attack.

The Venezuelan government, which states that it has mobilized tens of thousands of soldiers to combat drug trafficking and defend the country, claims that none of the people killed belonged to the Aragua train group.

Maduro has repeatedly stated that the US is trying to remove it from power.
