The Kansk City Court sentenced a 34-year-old man for systematically torturing his wife and children. He was sentenced to four years in prison in a general regime colony, the prosecutor's office said.

The criminal case is related to the tragedy that occurred in Kansk in April 2025, when the defendant’s wife, being in a state of insanity, killed three young children. She was sentenced to compulsory treatment. The investigation into this incident revealed a long history of domestic violence.

As the court found, since 2014 the man had subjected his wife to physical and psychological violence. Since 2018, children have also become victims of his cruelty. He systematically beat his sons with his hands, a belt and other objects, hitting various parts of their bodies, and also verbally humiliated them. According to relatives, he could not stand children's crying and once tried to cover his ten-month-old son's mouth with a pillow.

The case materials show that the man completely controlled and isolated his family: he took his wife’s passport and phone number, did not allow her to communicate with her parents or leave the house. In 2019, she was hospitalized for mental health problems after her husband chased her with an ax, causing her to fall into the basement. The man ignored the doctors' recommendations and forbade her to take medications.

The first official signal to the guardianship authorities came in October 2024, when a teacher noticed multiple bruises on one of her sons. The father was only brought to administrative responsibility for beatings, and the family was planned to be removed from the preventive register in the spring of 2025.

In addition to imprisonment, the court recovered from the convictea total of 300 thousand rubles as compensation for moral damage in favor of the surviving son. The boy is now in the Kansk orphanage under medical and psychological supervision.

The verdict has not yet entered into legal force and can be appealed.
