In Krasnoyarsk, a court found a pawnshop employee guilty of embezzling entrusted money on an especially large scale, and the client guilty of inciting this crime.

It was established that in 2023, a 23-year-old sales assistant at the Gold Auto Invest LLC pawnshop on Akademika Pavlova Street met a 25-year-old guy who constantly bet on sports and needed money for new ones. Yielding to the client’s persuasion, the girl agreed to regularly issue him loan agreements for the same game console, each time inflating its estimated value.

“For six months, he came to the pawnshop for money and took with him from 40 to 200 thousand rubles. He lost all the money he received at the bookmaker's office. The thrift store worker hoped that he could return everything and helped him. As a result, from November 2023 to January 2024, she carried out 18 operations to re-pledge a video game device and, as it turned out, irrevocably gave a total of 2.2 million rubles to a friend from the cash register,” said the prosecutor’s office and the police.

During the inventory of the cash register, the pawnshop owner discovered a shortage and reported it to law enforcement officers. Girl rshe repented, and the young man agreed to compensate for the damage. According to Part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the court sentenced the accomplices to suspended imprisonment for 2 and 3 years with a probationary period of 3 and 4 years.
