The White House announced the release of American Mark Vogel, who was arrested in 2021 for importing 17 grams of marijuana into Russia. This afternoon, Trump's special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, flew in to pick him up (they found out who he is here).
US government officials called this case “goodwill on the part of the Russians.” Now Vogel is on a special flight and has almost reached his homeland.
